On Respecting Women
Moderator: "Can you tell us, we've seen Melania here as well and we were very impressed by her gracious manner and her, you know, such elegant and really um (unintelligible, sounded like comedy or commenty?) Can you tell us how does she feel these days with all of this Stormy Daniels affairs going on in the background and she's not....."
RG interrupts: "No. I, I, I can't speak for Melania. Uh...."
Moderator: "But you are personal friend." (said as a statement not a question.)
RG: "I, I, I am. She believes in her husband. She knows it's not true. I don't think that there is even a slight suspicion that it's not true. When you, excuse me, but when you look at Stormy Daniels, (he makes a yuck face and the crowd laughs) I know Donald Trump...."
Moderator interrupts: "Let's respect her."
RG: (keeps talking to finish his point) And you look at his three wives. Right? Beautiful women. Classy women. Women of great substance. STORMY DANIELS!? (makes another yuck face and shakes head no, crowd laughs) So I think she....
Moderator Naama Sikuler interrupts: "You have to respect on this stage every woman."
RG: "Yes. I respect porn stars. (turns to address crowd) Don't you respect porn stars? (crowd laughs) Or do you think that porn stars don't respect women? And therefore sell their bodies? So yes, I respect all human beings. I even have to respect, you know, criminals. But I'm sorry, I don't respect a porn star the same way I respect a career woman, or a woman of substance, or a woman who has great respect for herself and isn't going to sell her body for sexual exploitation. So Stormy, you want to bring your case, let me cross examine you. Because, uh, the business you are in entitles you to no, uh, degree of, giving your credibility any weight. And secondly, explain to me how she can be damaged? I mean she has no reputation. If you're going to sell your body for money you just don't have a reputation. Maybe I'm old fashioned. I don't know."

I am not going to talk about politics on this blog very often because in the current political climate, some people choose to behave in an unsavory way when discussing politics. I do not like to openly invite these people into my life, and therefore stay away from politics on my blogs and on social media. I just don't have the energy for them and honestly I don't need the extra negativity in my life. I do not understand how people can argue on behalf of a President and an administration that shocks me to my core on a daily basis, and frequently lies and has no regard for facts. How can they deny facts? It's just unbelievable. I am all for everyone having their own opinion, and since I do not understand why people support this President and this administration, I love listening to level-headed Trump supporters explain their view to me so that I can try to see things through their eyes. But today, I am bringing up Trump and his once highly regarded but now incredibly slimy personal lawyer Rudy Giuliani. RG, as he will be referred to from now on, attended a panel at the "Globes" Capital Market Conference in Tel Aviv, Israel yesterday. And while he talked about many topics in a completely maddening way, like the upcoming summit with North Korea and the Muller investigation, one topic in particular made my blood boil.
The panel was moderated by two women, one of which was Naama Skiuler who is the editor-in-chief of "Globes." To me, these moderators seemed just as shocked, angry and offended by RG's comments as I was.
When I was watching Morning Joe earlier today, at one point Mika Brzezinski interrupted everyone who was talking to strongly address RG's comments. She got misty talking about it. And I get it. In 2018, after we have come so far, the fact that a man (or anyone for that matter) would say these awful things out loud to a laughing crowd at a conference is incredibly horrifying. To me it represents the core of everything that is wrong with this administration and this President. The hatred, bigotry and misogynistic views spewed from their mouths or tweeted on Twitter is just disgusting. It's not normal and we should not as a nation become numb to it. I got misty-eyed watching a misty-eyed Mika talk about how shocking the whole thing was early this morning. She said that we cannot let this go. People need to stand up and shout that this is not okay. We cannot let people forget what this man, the President of the United States personal lawyer, said about a woman who has been crucified over and over for trying to speak her truth. What he said about an entire group of women who are so stigmatized, who may not have a choice, or may be underage or in danger. OR, women who made a conscious decision on their own to have a career in an industry that they felt they could flourish in. That's their business. Women making a decision to have a career within the adult industry is very common and they deserve the right to make those decisions without giving up their right to be respected. Because they are human beings and ALL human beings are born with the right to be respected.

So to keep this alive, to hold RG accountable and to let my small community of readers know that I find these garbage comments to be totally unacceptable, I am sharing his disappointing words here for people to read or watch the video. No one deserves to be treated this way. It's 2018 folks. When will women, from all walks of life, be respected? I mean, this starts an entirely different conversation but seriously, if men stopped objectifying women and consuming and supporting what the adult industry churns out, MAYBE they could 100% deny responsibility in creating this vile culture of seeing women who are in this field in a negative way. As lesser than. As a whore or a slut, making her just absolutely impossible to respect. I find it funny that these same men suddenly abandon all of their morals to watch porn or read a Playboy or visit a strip club. They abandon their morals and views that they voice so loudly and with such authority up on their high horse, to glare at these women's naked bodies and pay them for their service. Men who have these views whistle at me while I'm walking downtown. Or honk their horn at me when I'm out for a run . But if I turned around and flashed them I would be in the wrong? Or a slut? Someone who deserves zero respect? Sorry guys, you can't have your cake and eat it too. Or, don't shit where you eat.
Because I am sometimes very computer stupid and always wildly impatient, I could not figure out how to embed the video of RG at the conference. So instead I transcribed the part that was most appalling to me and will include a link to the video from my reference ABC News right here.
I will leave you with two tweets that Stormy Daniel's lawyer, Michael Avenatti tweeted out yesterday and early this morning responding to RG's comments. I like this guy.
If you have comments please share them below. Let's have a conversation. Just please, keep it clean and keep it classy. Let's respect each other always.
