Self-Care Sunday- Morning Tarot Ritual
I have always loved reading my horoscope. In fact, I still do daily. But, I have also always been intrigued by tarot cards. Recently, I decided to set up a morning tarot ritual as a self-care practice. Currently, I own one tarot deck and three oracle decks. I use all four in my ritual, along with a tarot journal page that I bought on Etsy. I love this ritual and look forward to it every day. Doing the ritual forces me to be still, quiet and introspective. It's calming, informative and soothing. I like to think of it as reading my horoscope but fancier and created by me.
Like I mentioned, I use one tarot deck and three oracle decks to do my ritual. They are all so special to me. Each was carefully selected because I felt drawn to them, felt a connection with them and truly believed that they could help me to gain insight into my life and the world around me.
Tarot Deck- Mystic Mondays
This is a gorgeous deck by Grace Duong that includes 78 richly illustrated cards and a guidebook. The deck and book are full of positive vibes and will help you to connect to your intuition. The packaging is even pretty. Plus, the sides of the cards have a luminous coating which gives them a really luxe feel.
Oracle Deck #1- Messages From Your Spirit Guides
I was really drawn to these cards. I have always believed in familiars or that humans and animals can and do connect on a deep level. This deck of 44 cards contains messages from spirit animals and the guidebook helps you to translate these messages into advice that you can use in your daily life. The colorful pictures are beautiful and the messages are honest and uplifting.
Oracle Deck #2- The Fox Universe Tarot: A Self-Care Oracle Deck
The illustrations on these cards are absolutely stunning and the guidebook is full of helpful content and action prompts. The deck contains 80 cards that help you to recognize burnout in yourself and arms you with the tools that you need to address your personal development goals. These cards are teaching me to g=dig deep inside of myself to figure out the areas of myself that I can work on to improve. They are kind and caring and provide excellent guidance.
Oracle Deck #3- Flower Petals: Blossoming Guidance From The Garden
This deck came in my Witchcraft Way Ostara box and it has been an awesome addition to my collection. There are 44 cards, and this deck does not include a guidebook. But the cards all have enough information on them to help you to make sense of their meanings. Each card has a different flower along with a reminder of life's beauty through the hidden meanings of flowers. The deck is very inspirational and have lovely floral illustrations and positive messages.
Daily Draw Tarot Journal Page
I had been searching for a tarot journal to document my daily readings when I stumbled upon this page on Etsy. It is so perfect. The page contains space for the date, card, keywords, interpretation and day summary. There is also a place for you to illustrate your card which I love. So you have the option to use this as just a tarot journal or as a tarot and daily journal. I already have a daily journal that I adore, so I just focus on the tarot aspect of the page.
To do a reading, I start off with my Mystic Mondays tarot deck. I shuffle the deck, cut it in half, place the bottom half on top of the top half then draw the top card. I then document the card, draw an illustration of the card and write down the keywords that are outlines in the guidebook. Then, after reading the meaning of the card, I think about what I have read and write down my short interpretation of the card and how it relates to my life.
Whatever the tarot card tells me becomes the backdrop of the story that the oracle decks tell. I try to think of these other cards as partners to the tarot card. Since I don't use the "day summary" portion of the page, I use it to document my cards from the oracle decks. I write down my spirit guide and keywords, my Fox Universe card and my thoughts on its message, and the flower and its message. Last, I use color pencils to color my tarot card illustration. Then, I store the page in a folder so that I can reference them in the future.
I really love this daily self-care practice that I have established for myself and really recommend incorporating tarot into your life. Don't feel intimidated by the cards. Most come with a guidebook that tells you how to perform a reading and explains each card.
Do you use tarot or oracle decks? I would love to know which ones you use. Let me know here or on Insta or Twitter.
